Flying in Style: Our Virgin Atlantic Upper Class Journey to India

There’s something truly special about beginning a journey in style - and when our latest adventure to India started with Virgin Atlantic Upper Class, we knew we were in for something extraordinary.

From the moment we stepped into Heathrow’s Upper Class Wing, everything felt effortless, refined, and full of excitement - the perfect prelude to our Indian adventure.

The Perfect Start – Heathrow Clubhouse

Before we’d even set foot on the plane, we were already in holiday mode. The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Heathrow is more than just a lounge - it’s a destination in itself. With elegant interiors, à la carte dining, barista-made coffee, and cocktails that sparkle almost as much as the atmosphere, it’s a space that turns waiting into indulgence.

We settled in for late lunch l, enjoyed a glass (or two) of fizz, and watched the planes glide by. There’s a sense of calm confidence that Virgin does so well - luxury without the stiffness, and just the right touch of fun.

Welcome Aboard – The Dreamliner Upper Class Suite Boarding the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the warm pink glow of Virgin’s signature lighting instantly set the tone. The Upper Class Suite is sleek, private, and supremely comfortable -designed for travellers who appreciate both style and space. Fully flat beds, plush bedding, and thoughtful storage make it easy to unwind, and the friendly crew made sure every detail was spot on. Dinner was restaurant-quality - think elegant presentation, a well-chosen wine list, and impeccable service. After a restful sleep and a lazy breakfast in the clouds, we touched down in Mumbai feeling relaxed, refreshed, and ready for adventure.

Day 2: Jaipur – The Pink City of Palaces & Possibilities
After a seamless connection from Mumbai, we landed in Jaipur - a city that looks like it’s been brushed with sunset.

Known as the Pink City, Jaipur is where royal grandeur meets everyday life, a place that glows with colour, character, and charm at every turn.

A Warm Welcome to Rajasthan.

We were met at the airport by our private driver, who would be with us throughout our Golden Triangle journey - a small luxury that made a huge difference.

Having someone local, friendly, and knowledgeable meant we could relax, take in the sights, and hear real stories about the places we passed through.

The drive into Jaipur was like watching a movie unfold camel carts beside motorbikes, women in vivid saris carrying water pots, and the terracotta-pink façades that make the city so iconic.

Exploring the Pink City. Our day began at the breath-taking Amber Fort, rising proudly above the Aravalli Hills. Its courtyards and mirrored halls shimmered in the soft morning light - each corner more intricate and fascinating than the last.

Walking through its royal chambers, you can almost feel the history come alive.

Next, we explored the City Palace, still home to Jaipur’s royal family, before marvelling at the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) - an architectural wonder built so royal women could watch city life below without being seen. The craftsmanship, the colours, and the sheer energy of Jaipur are unforgettable.

Lunch with a View We paused for a leisurely lunch overlooking the city - fragrant curries, buttery naan, and the gentle hum of local life below. The service was impeccable, the flavours bold, and the setting pure magic. Sometimes the simplest meals, when enjoyed in moments like these, become the ones you remember forever. Jaipur by Night As evening fell, Jaipur came alive in a new way. The markets lit up with lanterns and laughter, the scent of jasmine and spice drifted through the air, and the Amber Fort glowed gold.
